Isn't this a ridiculous Web Page to even have to waste resources on! Although I have always felt uncomfortable in mentioning this topic to an adult class, past experience has made it necessary. I have taught two/three courses per quarter year around at UCSD Extension since 1985, and during that time classes where I have not encountered cheating have been the exception rather than the rule.
Although some apparently have difficulty separating the concepts of cheating and working together/getting help, there is a difference. While the exchange of ideas concerning approaches to completing and debugging the various assignments is encouraged, students must do independent work. PLEASE DO NOT turn in for credit any work that has been copied or derived from my solutions or the work of others. Occasionally students doing this attempt to hide it by making cosmetic changes to their assignments then when they are caught (if not too embarrassed) present, an amusing array of lame excuses. If you must resort to this please instead DO NOT ENROLL IN THIS CLASS or DROP THIS CLASS NOW.
